Project Manager II at Ameritas in Lincoln, NE

Job description

• This position leads and organizes project teams on discrete initiatives, utilizing project management methodologies and best practices to effectively deliver on an intended outcome and value for the organization. With little guidance or supervision, this role directs and provides oversight and reporting on projects with low complexity, narrow well-defined scope, and incremental business value, cost, and risk.
• In addition to utilizing project management methodologies, this role is expected to contribute in a broad consultative manner leveraging competency in problem solving, structured thinking, quantitative skills, analytical skills, business acumen, professional communication, storytelling, leadership (matrixed / indirect), change management, and professional judgement.
• This is a hybrid role working partially in-office (Lincoln, NE or Cincinnati,OH) and partially from home.

Responsibilities

• Support sponsor engagement and documentation of project objectives, benefits, success criteria, assumptions, constraints, and project steering team membership.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to identify project approaches, break down project work into tasks, obtain estimates for those tasks, and identify task dependencies to create the project plan and schedule.
• Track project costs and supporting budget monitoring.
• Monitor and update project plans, schedules, costs, and resources and reports on progress and variances to plan.
• Ensure stakeholders understand changes to business processes and appropriate training is provided.
• Follow review/approval processes for project deliverables while tracking and managing project risks and issues.
• Evaluate and document the degree to which changes would affect the project scope, cost, quality, and schedule and provide alternatives to project steering team and sponsors for approval.
• Implement approved changes, manage related work tasks, and integrate approved changes into project baselines.
• Identify causes of variances in project scope, schedules, costs, etc. Document lessons learned that allow for improvements in future delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• 1-3+ years of related project management experience required.
• PMP, PMI-ACP, or other similar project management certifications are useful.
• Previous management consulting or external consulting experience desired.
• MBA or similar advanced degree desired.

• The pay range posted reflects a nationwide minimum to maximum covering all potential locations where the position may be filled. The final determination on pay for any position will be based on multiple factors including role, career level, work location, skill set, and candidate level of experience to ensure pay equity within the organization. This position will be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits package (see above for details). This position will be eligible to participate in our Short-Term Incentive Plan with the annual target defined by the plan.
