Job description

• A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking AP Accountants to join its finance team and support high-volume accounts payable and general accounting activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Accounting graduate looking to build hands-on experience in a supportive, teaching-focused environment with training and long-term growth potential.
• The AP Accountant will process full-cycle accounts payable for multiple units while gaining exposure to general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and audit support. The role works closely with an Accounting Supervisor and serves as a key resource for field teams on AP-related questions.

Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle, high-volume accounts payable for multiple units
• Review invoices for proper coding and supporting documentation
• Maintain vendor records and support W-9 and 1099 requirements
• Generate payments and research AP discrepancies and outstanding checks
• Reconcile monthly AP aging reports and AP-related balance sheet accounts
• Process corporate credit card expenses and employee reimbursements
• Assist with journal entries, accruals, and monthly and year-end close
• Support audit preparation and other accounting projects
• Communicate with internal teams to resolve AP and accounting questions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• Recent graduates with a solid academic record are encouraged to apply
• Strong understanding of debits and credits and basic accounting principles
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Prior accounting or AP experience is a plus, but not required
• Detail-oriented with strong accuracy and organizational skills
• Self-motivated, eager to learn, and comfortable taking initiative
• Collaborative attitude and strong communication skills
