- Are you an accounting professional who enjoys going beyond the numbers to influence business decisions and drive operational success? We are seeking a Portfolio Accountant to join our growing team and play a vital role in the financial management of a diverse real estate portfolio within the senior living industry.
- In this position, you will partner closely with operations, leadership, and investors to provide meaningful financial insights, support strategic planning, and help maximize portfolio performance. Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other applicable accounting standards.
- Analyze financial results, including assets, liabilities, revenues, expenses, and capital activity, to provide meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and supporting schedules.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to support operational and investment decision-making.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the preparation of annual operating budgets for assigned properties.
- Develop and maintain monthly forecasts and reforecasts to support business planning.
- Analyze current and projected financial performance and communicate key findings to leadership.
- Business Partnership & Portfolio Management
- Partner with Operations team members to develop and maintain annual business plans, cash flow projections, financial analyses, and performance reporting.
- Monitor portfolio performance by tracking revenues, expenses, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and capital expenditures.
- Help manage capital reserves and support strategic asset management initiatives.
- Audit, Tax & Compliance Support
- Prepare annual workpapers and supporting documentation for external auditors and tax professionals.
- Assist with year-end audits, tax return preparation, and financial statement reviews.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
- Financial Modeling & Special Projects
- Develop and maintain financial models that support cash flow management, financing initiatives, operational planning, and investor reporting.
- Participate in ad hoc analyses and projects that contribute to the success and growth of the portfolio.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience within the real estate industry.
- Experience with real estate accounting software, preferably Yardi .
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Able to be in office 5 days per week.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Have strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Demonstrate sound business judgment and attention to detail.
- Communicate effectively with both financial and operational teams.
- Can manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Work independently while contributing to team objectives.
- Bring a positive, solutions-oriented, "can-do" attitude.
- Enjoy collaborating with colleagues across departments to achieve shared goals.
