• Remote, United States | $140,000–$175,000 base + 20% performance bonus + equity
• Build the accounting foundation of a growing wearable health-tech startup—and own a stake in what you help build.
• Our client combines physical devices with an annual software subscription and is expanding its products and services. In a team of approximately 25, you’ll bring accounting in-house, work directly with leadership, and shape the systems that support the next stage of growth.
• This is a hands-on department of one. You’ll own the detail, from bank reconciliations to inventory costing, with the existing fractional finance team supporting your transition. There’s room to improve how the business operates and build the finance function as its needs grow.
• Remote U.S. work with approximately 25% domestic travel, direct access to leadership, and real influence over how the finance function is built. Compensation includes $140,000–$175,000 base, a 20% performance-based bonus, and stock options.

Responsibilities

• Run monthly close, reconciliations, journal entries, and GAAP financial reporting. Bring the close toward five business days and deliver a P&L leadership can act on.
• Own QuickBooks Online, the chart of accounts, AP/AR, payroll coordination, and cash visibility.
• Reconcile inventory across a growing product range and customer-specific configurations; strengthen costing, landed-cost, COGS, and inventory controls.
• Support accurate accounting for hardware sales, annual software subscriptions, and emerging service revenue.
• Find and fix errors, improve controls, and help select and implement the next stage of accounting and ERP systems.
• Coordinate with operations and external tax, audit, and finance partners.

Requirements

• Controller-level ownership of the books and close, with strong GAAP fundamentals and a willingness to personally execute the work.
• Substantial inventory and cost-accounting experience in a physical-product business.
• Hands-on QuickBooks Online experience and confidence improving financial systems.
• Evidence of delivering in a small, changing business with limited support.
• Startup growth experience and ERP implementations are especially valuable. FP&A, hardware-plus-subscription accounting, and a CPA are pluses. Health-tech experience is welcome; relevant accounting ownership matters more than exact industry or years in a title.
