• Senior Project Manager
• Location: Oakland, CA
• Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid — approximately 2 days per month onsite; preference for candidates local to the Bay Area

• Pay Rate: $85.00–$90.00 / Hour (USD)

• Equipment: Client laptop will be provided. In case of major delays, the supplier may provide a laptop loaner, or the selected candidate may use a personal device and connect via Citrix/VDI.

The Alpha project is seeking an experienced project manager to join the team. Alpha is developing an advanced energy load management device to enable electrification. The project manager will assist the team in meeting its goals through 2027.
• This is the fully qualified, career-oriented, Senior Project Manager position that requires mastery of journey-level Project Manager job duties. Under general direction, exercises judgment and discretion and is responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and provides a single point of contact for those projects. Project duration is generally multi-year and requires significant risk management. Assignments will have high visibility, require extensive project management skills, and often require specific discipline and areas of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Is able to perform the job duties of a journey-level Project Manager; additional job duties include:
• Applies and adapts project management techniques
• Project may not be well defined or require creativity or new approaches
• Obtain commitment on detailed work plans including schedule, cost, resources, contingency, and communication plans
• Obtain management approval as needed; ensure project documentation is maintained
• Identify, analyze, and address project performance issues
• Manage the integration of vendor tasks and track and review vendor deliverables
• Communicate project status to all stakeholders
• Assess project risk and develop contingency plans
• Identify and communicate lessons learned and best practices
• Determine that project objectives are achievable
• Budget tracking and reporting
• Project reporting (PlanisWare)
• Budget reporting and compliance (EPIC PMO, etc.)
• Timelines and critical path
• Meeting management (daily operating review, weekly operating review, monthly operating review)
• 1-3-10 / Tactical implementation plan / Workstream management
• Superior ability to interface with and across supporting organizations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, or equivalent in education and experience
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and maintenance desired for new entrants
• 8 years of experience in project management, project controls, engineering, and/or construction (internal candidates); 9 years if an outside hire
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and techniques
• Strong communication skills across all levels of an organization
• Energy/Utility sector knowledge
• Budget tracking, reporting, and compliance
• Risk assessment and contingency planning
• Vendor management and integration of vendor tasks
• Stakeholder communication and status reporting
• Schedule management and critical path analysis
