Responsibilities
- The Fraud Monitoring Analyst is primarily responsible for monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing transactional information and alert reports to identify fraudulent activity. This position utilizes critical thinking to determine if action is required on alerts such as identifying unusual behavior, executing mitigating procedures, reviewing the more complex situations under the direction of the Fraud Prevention & Monitoring Manager, and making decisions or escalates if there is potential for client impact. This position must have in-depth analytical skills and knowledge of the frontline processes. This analyst must have the ability to learn new software and comprehend the data being produced by internal and anomaly systems. In addition, this position will benefit from strong operational and/or accounting background and technical writing skills that can be used for day-to-day operations.
- The salary range for this position is $52,800/yr - $103,500/yr plus bonus. The base salary indicated for this position reflects the compensation range applicable to all levels of the role across the United States. Actual salary offers within this range may vary based on a number of factors, including the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant skills and professional experience, educational qualifications, and geographic location.
- Key Accountability 1 : Monitoring Alerts
- Review alerts daily and be able to identify unusual behavior, perform proper mitigations, and escalate concerns, as needed. A high sense of urgency is required when an area of concern is identified .
- Perform a critical role in utilizing tools for fraud risk monitoring, anomaly detection and reporting. This includes log-in alerts as well as transactional alerts. The scope of alerts may will be based on risk but may include log-in alerts for commercial and retail systems as well as transactional alerts for all the various systems including wires, ACH , and retail online banking.
- Key Accountability 2: Monitoring Processes and Procedures
- Understand and assist in development of monitoring processes for the transactional and login alerts being produced. These alerts must be properly and accurately logged for regulatory and Board reporting.
- Initiate mitigation procedures such as account restrictions , temporary holds on wires or ACH if suspicious activity is identified . Collaboration with various departments if suspected fraud occurs.
- Key Accountability 3: Problem Solving
- The ability to utilize critical thinking to determine the root cause of an issue and work with others to mitigate the risk identified .
- Recommend analytical tuning as identified .
Requirements
- 5+ years of banking experience or related work experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equal experience
- Problem solving skills necessary with ability to define problems and propose solutions.
- Analytical skills to be able to review information and use critical thinking to make decisions.
- Must have good understanding of banking center process , procedures, and systems. Must have good understanding of operations activities of the Bank.
- Accounting background and skills a plus .
- Ability to utilize intermediate Excel, Word, and PPT. Prefer expertise is Excel to be able to use functions to solve problems, as needed.
- Good communication skills both oral and written. Ability to present recommendations verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Thoroughness in performing work duties .
- Limited travel may be necessary.
- Ability to multi-task and change direction frequently
- Levels will be determined based on education, related experience, and knowledge and skill sets. Generally: Level II = minimum of 5 years Level III = minimum of 5+
