Job description

• We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Software Application Support Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll provide hands-on operational support to ensure the stability, availability, and performance of mission-critical software applications.
• You’ll serve as a key point of contact for technical issues, troubleshooting application errors, supporting users, and working closely with engineering teams to identify and implement solutions. The role requires a strong understanding of Linux environments, including the ability to start, stop, monitor, and diagnose services.
• You’ll work with a variety of technologies, including Apache NiFi, Datarunner, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, AWS EC2, and CHAP, while helping keep applications running reliably in a mission-focused environment.
• This position also includes after-hours on-call support as needed, providing an important layer of operational coverage when issues arise outside of normal business hours.

Responsibilities

• Experience maintaining, configuring, and supporting complex software applications in operational environments.
• Strong experience with Linux command-line tools and systems administration.
• Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, knowledge bases, troubleshooting guides, and user resources.
• Experience with technologies such as Docker, MongoDB, Mongo Compass, Elasticsearch, AWS, and ContainerYard.
• Ability to proactively monitor application performance, system health, and database status to help maintain maximum availability and uptime.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, including the ability to review error logs, identify root causes, and drive issues through resolution.
• Experience with Atlassian tools, including Jira and Confluence.
• Familiarity with web application architectures, web servers such as Apache, Tomcat, or IIS, and APIs.
• Familiarity with Apache NiFi, Dataflow, and mission data formats.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams and customers.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a commitment to driving issues to resolution and delivering a positive customer experience.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with a current polygraph required.
• 10+ years of Systems Engineering (SE) experience supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Five additional years of relevant Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree. the experience and attributes of the ideal candidate
