• Description
• Provides intake activities of employees and clients with injuries, illness, or exposures sustained in the course of their work. Administers and interprets TB testing and vaccines to employees, volunteers, clients, and others as necessary. Assists with preparation of employees and clients for examinations, vital signs, history, laboratory requests, specimen collection, and other routine clinical activities. Documents medical care in the medical record. Must possess strong interpersonal and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care and clinical flow per guideline or policy.
• Prepares patients for the doctor by providing instructions or forms, assists with exams, and carries out orders; obtains equipment or job descriptions for fitness for duty exams.
• Performs phlebotomist duties; completes drug/alcohol tests following specific protocols
• Reviews physicals / test results with the doctor.
• Answers telephone inquiries from patients and clients, provides administrative support and attends meetings.
• Documents employee statements regarding injuries or exposures; prepares reports as needed; maintains work related injury files; arranges for storage of files with resources in Medical Records.
• Administers annual employee TB testing, flu shots and fit tests.
• Provides information to authorized personnel including Human Resources regarding employee health and work related injuries.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Work experience in an occupational health or primary care clinic setting is required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certified as a medical assistant by one of the National Commission for Certifying Agencies approved organizations required.
• CPR certification required.
• Where a professional license or certification is required, the candidate must maintain the applicable license or certification throughout employment and comply with applicable renewal and reporting requirements.
• Humboldt Park Health may verify applicable professional licenses, certifications, education, employment history, and other credentials as permitted or required by applicable law and organizational policy.

• Pay Range: $23 – $25 per hour
• The pay range represents the budgeted compensation range for this position. Final offers may vary based on job-related factors, including qualifications, education, experience, skill set, internal equity, applicable policies, and other factors permitted by law.
