Job description

• The Project Manager is responsible for managing the complete life cycle of assigned automation projects, from initial planning and design through procurement, assembly, testing, installation, and project closeout. The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive leader with strong communication skills, technical aptitude, and experience managing complex, multidisciplinary automation projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams to execute projects on schedule, at or below budget, and according to the contracted scope of work
• Develop and maintain project schedules and identify critical path activities
• Conduct project planning and team communication meetings
• Work with the Applications team and customers to understand project requirements, timelines, design, and costs
• Coordinate with the Mechanical Engineering team throughout the design and customer approval process
• Work with Purchasing to coordinate material procurement and ensure project deliverables are received on time
• Coordinate with Mechanical and Electrical Shop teams throughout project assembly
• Work with Controls, Electrical, and Fluids Programming teams to ensure equipment is operating properly
• Manage project resources and ensure adequate resources are assigned to project tasks
• Monitor project progress and identify and address deviations from the project plan
• Identify project risks and develop and implement appropriate mitigation plans
• Monitor project costs, forecasting, billing milestones, and overall financial performance
• Ensure project deliverables and supporting documentation are completed for milestone payments
• Coordinate FAT, SAT, customer approvals, final payment, and project closeout
• Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned projects and maintain regular communication regarding project status
• Proactively address customer concerns and work to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Manage contract change orders and ensure changes are properly communicated and executed
• Coordinate project activities from project kickoff through delivery and installation at the customer site
• Provide regular project updates to leadership and project stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
• Five or more years of Project Management experience within the industrial automation industry
• PMP certification preferred
• Experience managing million-dollar programs with multidisciplinary teams
• Practical working knowledge of industrial automation and manufacturing processes
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proven troubleshooting skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive projects to successful completion
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to effectively manage customer relationships, deadlines, and competing priorities
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Willingness to work overtime and/or weekends as needed
• Ability to work in both an office environment and an active mechanical assembly shop
