The Accounting Supervisor supports the CFO and Director of Accounting in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department. Oversee the month-end close cycle, coordinating journal entry preparation, review and sign-off within established close-day targets to keep reporting on schedule.

- The Accounting Supervisor supports the CFO and Director of Accounting in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the month-end close cycle, coordinating journal entry preparation, review and sign-off within established close-day targets to keep reporting on schedule.
- Manage a team of staff accountants and accounting specialists, setting performance expectations, conducting reviews, and providing coaching that closes skill gaps and supports professional growth.
- Respond to inquiries of staff regarding financial procedures for the purpose of providing information, direction and/or referral for addressing inquiry.
- Develop processes and procedures for monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
- Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports to management.
- Ad Hoc analyses as needed.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
- Interviewing, hiring, orienting and training employees.
- Trains, schedules, assigns, and reviews work of staff.
- Ability to engage with the department in a positive meaningful manner.
- Able to identify individual strengths within the team to better facilitate the distribution of work.
- Coaching and appraising performance.
- Rewarding and disciplining employees.
- Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a minimum of 7 years’ accounting experience and/or training; a minimum of 2 years of directly managing a team. CPA designation a plus.
- Computer skills: Highly proficient with MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting software (Sage Intacct experience a plus)
