• Overview: Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant is a key member of the finance team responsible for managing a broad range of accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, revenue recognition, and fixed asset accounting, along with the associated analysis and reporting.
• This role owns critical elements of the month-end and year-end close, prepares and reviews journal entries and reconciliations, and delivers insightful variance analysis to support informed business decisions.
• The Senior Accountant continuously evaluates and improves accounting processes and internal controls, ensuring that all practices comply with U.S. GAAP, company accounting policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Partnering closely with cross-functional teams across the organization, the Senior Accountant helps drive accuracy, efficiency, and scalability in the finance function while ensuring project and department milestones and goals are met.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end and year-end close process, including timely and accurate preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses
• Maintain accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policy
• Perform critical internal controls over financial reporting and ensure adherence to established control policies and procedures
• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; active CPA designation preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting experience (Big 4 or national/regional firm preferred)
• Retail Accounting knowledge preferred
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and testing internal controls over financial reporting (SOX/ICFR); experience supporting external audits
• Experience with devising, analyzing, and implementing accounting procedures in a system environment in conformance with GAAP
• Proven ability to research and document technical accounting positions and lead complex month-end/year-end close and reconciliation processes
• Experience with a major ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge especially Excel; familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Alteryx, SQL, Power BI) a plus
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting concepts and financial results to non-finance stakeholders and executive leadership
• Highly organized and deadline-driven, with the judgment to manage a high-volume close calendar while handling audits and special projects concurrently
• Able to establish and maintain working relationships with employees
