• Come help us reimagine how public programs work, not just digitize them. Everblue’s mission is to bring best-in-class experiences to the underdesigned world of the public sector where the technology hasn't caught up to what the people using it actually need. Excelling in this role requires a blend of empathy, creativity, and problem-solving skill, combined with technical expertise in information architecture, user research, usability testing, and prototyping, plus the service-design fundamentals to map, diagnose, and re-architect a multi-step process end to end, not retrofit the old one. Your central task is to design the system the public actually touches, built around how the program should run: clear, dependable interactions grounded in real user behavior, not assumptions. Every screen you design either builds trust in government or chips away at it. This is truly life-changing work.
• We're hiring a UX/UI Product Designer to own the user experience across two connected parts of Everblue's work: the software our customers use, and the programs they run. On the software side, you'll own design for Everblue's Everserve platform, the configurable workflow and forms platform used by state agencies across the country. On the program side, you'll apply the same design discipline to non-digital and blended service experiences, for example, how a student discovers, enrolls in, and completes one of our workforce training classes. You'll report to the Director of Customer Experience and work daily with product managers, engineers, implementation specialists, and program teams to turn complex program requirements into experiences that are genuinely easy to use, on screen and off.
• Excelling in this role requires a blend of empathy, creativity, and problem-solving skill, combined with technical expertise in information architecture, user research, usability testing, and prototyping, plus the service-design fundamentals to map, diagnose, and redesign a multi-step process end to end. Your central task is to create clear, dependable interactions, whether that's a state agency caseworker in Everserve or a constituent signing up for a class, and to ground both in real user behavior, not assumptions.
• As with any client-facing role, you'll need to communicate design rationale effectively to external stakeholders as well as in-house product, engineering, and implementation teams.
• For the software side, you're proficient in tools like Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD, and you apply them fluently to input and selection patterns across mobile and desktop. For the program side, you're comfortable with journey mapping, service blueprints, and process design, translating a multi-touchpoint experience (a signup, an intake, an onboarding) into something a non-technical operations team can actually run. Across both, you apply the same usability heuristics: make status visible, prevent errors before they happen, and give users control over their own path.
• Because Everblue serves state government programs, this role also requires working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 and Section 508) and a strategic mindset for balancing regulatory constraints against usability.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex program requirements into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for Everserve.
• Build and maintain a Figma-based design system that engineering can implement directly.
• Audit existing user flows for usability and accessibility gaps, and document findings with proposed fixes.
• Make design and user-experience decisions for core and new Everserve functions and features.

• Map and redesign end-to-end experiences for Everblue's non-digital and blended programs, for example, how a student discovers, enrolls in, and completes a class.
• Design and deliver journey maps, service blueprints, and process flows built for the people who run and use them, not just the people who build software.
• Identify friction points across a program's full lifecycle and propose clear, workable fixes for both the participant and staff experience.

• Collaborate daily with product managers, engineers, implementation specialists, and program teams.

Requirements

• A designer who is passionate about their work, brings positive energy, and possess extreme competence.
• Five or more years of UX/UI or service design experience, ideally spanning both digital products and non-digital or blended program experiences.
• Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent experience demonstrated through a portfolio.
• Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or comparable design and prototyping tools. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
• Working knowledge of service design methods (journey mapping, service blueprinting, process mapping) and experience applying them to a real operational program, not just software.
• Ability to work directly with internal and external stakeholders to define requirements and design experiences that meet program needs.
• Applied experience with mobile-first and responsive design principles.
• A working grasp of user-centered design: planning and conducting user research, usability testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, and heuristic analysis.
• Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and experience designing for compliance requirements.
• Ability to iterate designs efficiently based on stakeholder and user feedback.
• Clear, direct communication skill, written and verbal, with technical and non-technical audiences.
• A track record of resolving user pain points, on screen or in a process, through design decisions grounded in evidence.
