• Senior Data Engineer
• Remote – PST or MST
• Contract to Hire
• Pay Rate: $75–$85/hr
• Our client is a growing organization that relies heavily on complex operational data to support its technology, analytics, and business operations. The team works across multiple data sources and systems and is continuing to strengthen its data infrastructure, reporting capabilities, and production pipelines.
• We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to take ownership of key areas within a complex data environment. This is a hands-on senior-level role for someone who can independently build, support, and troubleshoot production data pipelines while helping improve the overall reliability and quality of the data ecosystem.
• The Senior Data Engineer will work across operational and warehouse environments using SQL, Python, Postgres, Redshift, AWS Glue, and dbt. This person will be responsible for developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines, resolving complex data discrepancies across systems, supporting reporting and analytics needs, and helping mentor junior and mid-level engineers on the team.
• The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, can quickly understand complex data flows, and has the judgment to identify problems and drive them through resolution without requiring heavy direction.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of key areas within a complex data environment
• Independently build, support, and troubleshoot production data pipelines
• Help improve the overall reliability and quality of the data ecosystem
• Work across operational and warehouse environments using SQL, Python, Postgres, Redshift, AWS Glue, and dbt
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines
• Resolve complex data discrepancies across systems
• Support reporting and analytics needs
• Help mentor junior and mid-level engineers on the team

Requirements

• Strong SQL skills with experience across operational databases and data warehouse environments
• Strong data modeling experience
• Hands-on Python experience for data engineering, automation, reconciliation, and pipeline support
• Experience designing, building, and supporting production ETL/ELT pipelines
• Strong experience troubleshooting complex data mismatches and reconciliation issues across multiple systems
• Experience with AWS data services, including AWS Glue, S3, Redshift, Lambda, or similar technologies
• Hands-on experience with Postgres
• Experience working with SQL Server or similar operational database environments
• Experience with dbt for data transformation and modeling
• Understanding of reporting and analytics requirements
• Experience supporting BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
• Ability to independently own significant areas of a data environment
• Ability to mentor junior and mid-level engineers without requiring significant direction
• Healthcare industry experience
• Transportation or logistics data experience
• Experience working with claims, eligibility, or billing data
• Experience with call center or other complex operational datasets
• Experience supporting data environments with multiple upstream and downstream systems
• Experience improving existing data pipelines, data quality processes, and reporting environments
