Job description

• We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Military Operations & Reporting SMEs with strong expertise in military operations, DoD reporting standards, staff processes, information synthesis, executive reporting, and written communication to contribute to an advanced AI training and military-reporting evaluation project.
• Selected professionals will review military and DoD reporting content, evaluate AI-generated materials, synthesise information across operational inputs, and develop realistic reporting scenarios grounded in real-world staff processes. No prior experience in AI is required.

Responsibilities

• Military Reporting & Content Evaluation
• Review military and DoD reporting materials for accuracy, clarity, and operational relevance
• Assess whether content reflects realistic reporting practices and procedures
• Evaluate terminology, structure, tone, and reporting conventions
• Identify factual, procedural, or communication weaknesses
• Apply professional judgement across varied military reporting scenarios
• Information Synthesis & Executive Reporting
• Gather and synthesise information from multiple teams or staff sections
• Translate complex operational inputs into clear executive updates
• Structure reports for senior military or DoD leadership audiences
• Prioritise relevant information while preserving important context
• Apply concise and accurate reporting practices across recurring deliverables
• AI Output Review & Feedback
• Review AI-generated military reporting content for quality and accuracy
• Assess information synthesis, terminology, structure, and audience suitability
• Identify unsupported conclusions, missing context, or weak reporting logic
• Provide clear and actionable written feedback on model outputs
• Apply consistent evaluation standards across repeated review tasks
• Reporting Scenarios & Reference Materials
• Develop realistic military and DoD reporting examples for AI training
• Create scenarios reflecting operational, administrative, programme, and resource-management contexts
• Contribute examples of recurring and executive-level reporting workflows
• Refine reporting tasks based on real-world staff processes
• Support development of high-quality reference materials and evaluation benchmarks
• Staff Processes & SME Collaboration
• Apply firsthand knowledge of headquarters, command-staff, and operational workflows
• Contribute insight from staff coordination and cross-functional reporting processes
• Explain reporting methodology and military communication expectations clearly
• Collaborate remotely with project leads and other subject-matter experts
• Support refinement of reporting standards, scenarios, and project guidelines

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience within the U.S. Department of Defense as a uniformed service member, DoD civilian, or both
• Direct experience preparing recurring reports or executive updates for senior military or DoD leadership
• Familiarity with Weekly Activity Reports, Project or Program Status Reports, Performance or Accomplishment Reports, After-Action Reports, or Budget Execution Reports
• Background in military operations, plans, headquarters or command staff, programme management, executive support, or resource management
• Strong understanding of DoD reporting standards and military terminology
• Demonstrated ability to synthesise inputs from multiple teams into concise reporting
• Strong written communication and content-evaluation skills
• Experience supporting executive-level or senior-leadership reporting
• Ability to assess written materials for clarity, accuracy, and operational relevance
• Strong attention to detail and professional judgement
• Experience as an Operations Officer or NCO, Plans Officer, Action Officer, Staff Officer, Executive Officer, or similar headquarters role is advantageous
• Comfortable collaborating remotely and providing structured written feedback
• No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
