Job description

• USNR, a leading manufacturer of sawmill equipment with divisions located throughout the U.S. and Canada. USNR is seeking a highly motivated individual to become our next Materials and Procurement Planner to join our team in Woodland, WA. The Materials and Procurement Planner is responsible for purchasing, supplier coordination, inventory control, materials management, and shipping/logistics support for the facility. This position manages purchasing activities for raw materials, maintenance parts, consumables, packaging materials, office supplies, and operational materials; maintains accurate inventory and procurement records; coordinates replenishment and material movement; supports receiving, shipping, and invoice resolution; and identifies opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, cost control, supplier performance, and overall process efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Procurement & Supplier Management
• Manage purchasing for SDS, WB raw materials
• Manage purchasing activities for maintenance parts, consumables, packaging materials, office supplies, and operational materials.
• Create and maintain purchase orders and ensure timely order placement.
• Source new suppliers and negotiate pricing, lead times, and service levels.
• Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies and invoice issues.
• Maintain supplier databases, purchasing records, and procurement documentation.
• Monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment activities based on established stocking parameters.
• Maintenance Parts Management
• Source and procure maintenance spare parts for production equipment.
• Work with Maintenance personnel to identify required replacement components.
• Maintain critical spare parts inventories to minimize production downtime.
• Coordinate with external technical resources and vendors for specialized parts sourcing.
• Manage MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) inventory records and vendor catalogs.
• Inventory Control
• Administer inventory transactions and inventory accuracy programs.
• Coordinate cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Maintain inventory locations, stock records, and item master data.
• Establish and monitor minimum and maximum inventory levels.
• Support inventory optimization and inventory reduction initiatives.
• Ensure proper material identification, labeling, and traceability.
• Maintain inventory control procedures and documentation.
• Materials Management
• Manage quarantine and non-conforming material processes.
• Ensure proper segregation and identification of rejected material.
• Maintain location accuracy and storage controls.
• Coordinate inventory movements between departments and facilities.
• Support implementation of barcode, scanning, and inventory automation technologies.
• Shipping & Logistics Coordination
• Coordinate outbound and inbound shipments.
• Schedule carriers and transportation providers.
• Manage transfer orders and intercompany shipments.
• Support month-end shipping activities and inventory reconciliation.
• Ensure on-time delivery performance and customer shipment requirements are achieved.
• Coordinate trailer utilization and freight consolidation opportunities.
• Systems & Process Improvement
• Maintain purchasing, inventory, and logistics data within company systems.
• Support implementation of inventory management technologies and scanning solutions.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction.
• Generate reports and analyze inventory, purchasing, and logistics performance metrics.
• Provide training and support to team members on inventory and procurement processes.

Requirements

• Experience in purchasing, supplier coordination, inventory control, materials management, and shipping/logistics support
• Experience managing purchasing activities for raw materials, maintenance parts, consumables, packaging materials, office supplies, and operational materials
• Experience creating and maintaining purchase orders and ensuring timely order placement
