Responsibilities
- Reads customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Conveys material and items from receiving or other areas to storage or to other designated areas.
- Sorts and places material or items on racks or shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials or other stock items and distributes for shipment.
- Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders for shipping.
- Marks material with identifying information.
- Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
- Records amounts of material or items received or distributed.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance with company standards.
- Uses computer to enter records.
- Maintains inventory records.
Requirements
- Forklift experience preferred
- Metals industry experience preferred
- Packaging experience preferred
- Must be able to work safely in a fast paced distribution environment with forklift traffic, material, and machinery.
