• Join a collaborative Accounting & Finance team where you'll play a key role in calculating incentive compensation, supporting month-end close activities, reconciling financial data, and ensuring the accuracy of the company's variable compensation programs.
• The Incentive Accounting Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day administration, calculation, financial reporting, and accounting of the company's variable compensation programs. Reporting within Commercial Accounting, this role serves as the primary connection between incentive plan execution and financial reporting, ensuring the accurate calculation, accrual, payment, reconciliation, and analysis of incentive compensation across the organization.
• This position is a hands-on role that balances incentive compensation administration and accounting responsibilities. The analyst is responsible for managing large volumes of incentive data, maintaining participant and plan information, performing calculations and reconciliations, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of incentive-related financial results. The role works closely with Accounting, Payroll, Finance, and Operations partners to support timely and accurate compensation payments while maintaining strong financial controls.
• The position oversees the monthly, quarterly, and annual incentive compensation cycles for field producers, branch and regional leadership, and corporate bonus participants, while owning the related accounting activities, including incentive accruals, expense analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger reporting. This role plays a critical part in supporting an accurate and timely financial close by ensuring incentive-related financial results are complete, accurate, and well supported.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end incentive compensation process by collecting, validating, analyzing, and maintaining production and performance data, including gross profit, margin, placements, spread, and goal attainment.
• Calculate monthly, quarterly, and annual incentive compensation payments and ensure calculations are accurate, complete, and supported by appropriate documentation.
• Maintain participant records, organizational structures, eligibility rules, plan configurations, and compensation-related data used in incentive calculations.
• Ensure timely approvals and delivery of payout files to Payroll, including support for off-cycle payments, prorations, retroactive adjustments, and correction processing.
• Prepare and maintain incentive accruals and true-ups by developing accurate monthly estimates across all compensation plans, including quarterly and annual incentive programs.
• Own incentive accounting and reconciliations by maintaining the accuracy and integrity of incentive-related expense and liability accounts.
• Reconcile incentive calculations, payroll payments, and general ledger activity; maintain accrual roll-forwards; and investigate, resolve, and document reconciling items and aged balances.
• Support month-end close activities related to incentive compensation, including journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis, reporting, and audit support.
• Provide incentive expense analysis and financial insights by preparing variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for incentive-related inquiries by responding to questions from producers, managers, and regional leaders regarding incentive calculations and payouts.
• Partner with Payroll, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, and Operations teams to ensure incentive data flows are accurate and complete.
• Support incentive plan administration and governance by maintaining participant data, plan configurations, eligibility rules, and calculation logic within incentive compensation management systems.
• Drive process improvement and automation initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual spreadsheet dependencies, improve data quality, and enhance reporting capabilities.
• Assist with special projects, testing, reporting enhancements, and compensation process improvements as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles and month-end close processes, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, accrual management, and variance analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, PivotTables, lookups, data modeling, and the development and maintenance of large-scale, auditable calculation and reporting tools.
• Demonstrated ability to calculate, reconcile, and administer incentive compensation across multiple plans, business units, and pay cycles with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, investigate discrepancies, and develop practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly explain compensation calculations, accounting impacts, and payout results to both financial and non-financial audiences.
• Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across Accounting, Finance, Payroll, Operations, Human Resources, and field leadership teams.
• Strong data management and process administration skills with the ability to maintain accurate participant and compensation records.
• Experience supporting process improvement, automation, and control enhancement initiatives that increase efficiency, reduce risk, and improve data accuracy.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in environments with manual processes while identifying opportunities for improvement and automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, sales compensation, incentive administration, compensation analysis, commission accounting, or related fields.
• Direct experience calculating and administering commissions, bonuses, incentives, or other variable compensation programs.
• Experience supporting month-end close activities, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Experience working within a small to mid-sized organization where accounting professionals support multiple business functions preferred.
• Experience with incentive compensation platforms such as Varicent or similar systems preferred.

• The anticipated annual base salary for this position in the US is $78,000 - $88,000. This range does not include any other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
