• Job Type: Full-time Work Arrangement: Hybrid Location: Ohio Pay: $200,000–$245,000 per year
• GAI Consultants is hiring a Transportation Engineering Director to lead and grow our Ohio transportation and structures practice. You will set strategic direction, oversee technical quality on major roadways, corridor, and bridge projects, and serve as our senior client representative to ODOT, the Ohio Turnpike, and local public agencies.
• This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys both engineering and the client-side, winning work, shaping pursuits, and building the team that delivers it.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight into roadway design, structures, traffic, planning, and construction services projects
• Build and lead client relationships with ODOT Central Office and Districts, OTIC, and municipalities
• Lead business development for Ohio: pursuit planning, teaming, go/no-go decisions, and proposals
• Ensure work meets ODOT processes, standards, and QA/QC requirements
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and financial performance across multiple project teams
• Mentor project managers and support hiring and succession planning

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive project management experience on roadway and corridor design projects
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Ohio
• Valid driver's license
• Proven business development and client relationship success in transportation consulting
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Master’s degree in engineering
• Design-build delivery experience
• ODOT, Ohio Turnpike, and LPA program experience
• P.E. reciprocity in additional states
