• An established government contractor is seeking a Senior Government Contract Accountant to provide critical support during year-end accounting activities. This position will partner closely with the Controller and play a key role in year-end close, incurred cost submissions, indirect rate calculations, and overall government contract accounting compliance.
• This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced GovCon accounting professional who can quickly step in, work independently, and contribute immediately in a fast-paced environment.
• The ideal candidate is a hands-on GovCon accounting professional with recent experience supporting year-end close activities for federal contractors. Candidates with direct experience preparing ICS submissions, working with ICE models, calculating indirect rates, and supporting DCAA compliance efforts will be highly prioritized.
• Please note: This role requires recent government contracting accounting experience and is not suited for candidates whose backgrounds are exclusively in commercial accounting.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Prepare year-end schedules and audit-ready workpapers
• Support annual ESOP valuation processes and documentation requests
• Assist with preparation of Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS)
• Develop and maintain ICE Model schedules
• Support indirect rate calculations and reconciliations
• Assist with year-end close and financial reporting activities
• Ensure compliance with FAR Part 31 and government contracting accounting requirements
• Partner with leadership on special projects and ad hoc analysis

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Demonstrated experience within a government contracting environment
• Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS)
• ICE Model schedules
• Indirect rate structures
• FAR Part 31
• DCAA compliance and audit requirements
• Experience preparing detailed reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Pivot Tables
• Complex formulas
• Financial reporting and analysis
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Unanet experience strongly preferred
• Experience supporting ESOP organizations
• CPA or CPA-track candidate
• Prior experience working directly with Controllers and executive leadership
