• - The HR Generalist at the Housing Authority of the City of Newark will play a pivotal role in managing and executing various human resources functions to support the organization's operations and its employees. This full-time position requires a professional who can handle multiple HR tasks, provide guidance to staff, and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• - Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• - Manage the recruitment and selection process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and onboarding new employees.
• - Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks, ensuring employees understand and utilize available resources.
• - Handle employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to resolve conflicts and maintain a positive work environment.
• - Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance employee skills and promote professional development.
• - Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
• - Assist in performance management processes, including conducting evaluations and developing improvement plans.
• - Collaborate with department managers to identify staffing needs and develop strategies to address them.
• - Support organizational change initiatives and contribute to the development of a culture that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• - Provide guidance and support for disciplinary actions and terminations, ensuring fair and legal processes are followed.

Requirements

• Qualifications
• - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• - Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Human Resources role, preferably as an HR Generalist.
• - Experience working with HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• - Demonstrated experience in handling employee relations, recruitment, and benefits administration.
• - Strong understanding of HR practices, employment laws, and regulations.
• - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
• - Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner.
• - Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• - Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
