Job description

• The Accountant is responsible for general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, reconciliation, and support of the month-end close process. This position ensures that accurate financial data is maintained and reported in a timely fashion. The role will also assist with budgeting, audits, and tax preparation while helping to streamline financial processes as Amass continues to scale.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries for recurring and non-recurring transactions.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and sub-ledgers.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), working closely with vendors and internal teams.
• Generate and analyze financial statements for internal leadership review.
• Ensure timely invoicing to clients and accurate application of payments.
• Prepare and file sales tax reports and assist with other regulatory filings.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and reports.
• Partner with the Payroll and HR teams to reconcile payroll expenses and liabilities.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in an accounting role (staff accountant or higher preferred).
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting procedures.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar); experience with Paycom is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookup, etc.).
• High attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
