• We are seeking an experienced Senior Analyst to join our Strategy & Risk Advisory team and help drive the continued growth of our practice. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven individual with a well-rounded investigative and analytical skill set to join the expanding Strategy & Risk Advisory team within J.S. Held's Global Risk practice.
• Our team supports clients with complex due diligence, business intelligence, political risk, and investigative assignments across challenging and high-risk environments. J.S. Held's Global Investigations practice is ranked Band 1 by Chambers and Partners, reflecting the strength and reputation of our broader platform.
• The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the Eurasia region, with a particular focus on Russia, the Former Soviet Union (FSU), Central Asia, the Caucasus, Türkiye, and neighbouring markets. They will have significant experience conducting enhanced due diligence, business intelligence, and investigative projects, as well as assessing political, regulatory, reputational, and integrity-related risks.
• The successful applicant will play a leading role in the execution and management of complex multi-jurisdictional assignments for clients across a broad range of sectors. They will be responsible for delivering high-quality due diligence, business intelligence, political risk, and investigative engagements, while also supporting the firm's business development efforts and expanding its network of senior government, commercial, and industry contacts throughout Eurasia.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex due diligence, business intelligence, investigative, and political risk engagements across Eurasia and other high-risk jurisdictions.
• Conduct in-depth research and analysis into corporate structures, beneficial ownership, reputational issues, political exposure, sanctions risk, litigation history, regulatory concerns, and other integrity-related matters.
• Produce high-quality client deliverables, including due diligence reports, investigative briefings, political risk assessments, stakeholder maps, and strategic advisory memoranda.
• Monitor and assess political, economic, regulatory, and security developments throughout Eurasia and provide actionable insight to clients.
• Manage multi-jurisdictional assignments from scoping through delivery, ensuring methodological rigour, quality control, and timely execution.
• Develop and maintain networks of sources, subject matter experts, government stakeholders, journalists, and industry contacts to support investigative and intelligence-gathering efforts.
• Serve as a trusted adviser to clients, communicating sensitive and complex findings clearly, discreetly, and effectively.
• Support business development activities, including proposal writing, client relationship management, thought leadership, and identifying new opportunities within target markets.
• Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to the development of analytical standards, investigative methodologies, and best practices.
• Uphold the highest ethical, legal, and compliance standards across all research, investigative, and client-facing activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a top-tier university in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Law, Security Studies, or a related field. A master's degree is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience conducting and/or managing complex due diligence, business intelligence, investigations, political risk, or strategic advisory projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in Eurasian markets, including a strong understanding of the region's political, regulatory, commercial, and geopolitical landscape.
• Significant experience delivering enhanced due diligence, integrity due diligence, third-party risk assessments, and investigative assignments for corporate, legal, financial, or government clients.
• Proven ability to analyse large volumes of information, identify material risks, and produce clear, insightful, and client-ready reports.
• Established professional networks across the public and private sectors, including government, media, legal, compliance, and business communities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to produce concise, high-quality analysis under tight deadlines.
• Native-level proficiency in either French or Spanish is required, in addition to excellent English.
• Professional proficiency in Arabic or Russian is highly desirable; knowledge of additional Eurasian languages would be advantageous.
• Highly dynamic, proactive, and self-motivated, with a strong commercial mindset and a proven ability to operate independently.
• Ability to manage sensitive assignments with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgement.
• Demonstrated interest in business development and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.
