Job description
- The Staff Accountant is an essential member of the Finance Department, contributing to the hotel's financial success through the effective administration of accounting processes and financial controls.
- This role helps ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and internal procedures while supporting the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.
- The Staff Accountant will also support the hotel's day-to-day financial operations, including payroll administration, accounts payable processing, and general cashiering functions, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with local regulations and corporate guidelines.
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Assistant Director of Finance or the Director of Finance as needed to support business operations and departmental objectives. The team embodies all Four Seasons cultural values while maintaining established standards, with professionalism expected at all times.
- This role reports to the Assistant Director of Finance and is overseen by the Director of Finance.
Responsibilities
- Accounting Operations: Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the accuracy of general ledger accounts
- Account Reconciliations: Perform bank, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules for management review
- Audit Support: Provide documentation and assistance for internal and external audits
- Financial Close Process: Assist with month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders across the organization to support financial operations, reporting needs, and process improvements
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Strong time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience in a hotel or resort environment preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and spoken English is required.
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar role is required.
