Responsibilities

• The Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for the position of Section Chief to join the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Group in our Environmental Operations group. The position is located at MES Headquarters in Millersville, MD. The selected candidates will develop, direct, manage, and prioritize work at the Section level, and is responsible for assuring all services performed in the Section are cost effective, efficient and in compliance with client and regulatory requirements. Ideal candidates should have experience, in but not limited to, business development, labor management, technical writing, strategic planning, project management and regulatory and interagency coordination.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university plus eight years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering, and/or natural resource management, five years of which include responsibility for managing environmental projects and supervising environmental professional and technical staff.
• Note: Applicants may substitute an applicable advanced education degree for up to two years of required experience.
• Experience in environmental projects and initiatives, outreach and projects related to dredged material management and innovative and/or beneficial reuse is preferred
