Job description
- As a Tax Manager within the Methods, Credits & Incentives (MCI) practice, you will navigate the complexities of Research & Development (R&D) tax credits to provide insightful, practical advice to a diverse client base. You will be empowered from day one to lead R&D projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with firm standards.
- This role is highly collaborative; you will work closely with MCI leadership to research technical tax issues, conduct fieldwork, and drive business development through sales and marketing efforts.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Manage multiple engagements simultaneously, taking ultimate responsibility for overall project deliverables.
- Technical Execution: Conduct client site visits and facility tours to investigate relevant facts.
- Analysis & Reporting: Prepare cost lead schedules, summary schedules, and tax computations.
- Consultation: Draft comprehensive written reports summarizing findings and providing strategic recommendations.
- Growth & Development: Support business development by identifying opportunities and assisting with proposal development for prospective clients.
Requirements
- Certification: Active CPA or JD/Active Attorney's License is required. Please note: Enrolled Agent (EA) certifications are not accepted for this role.
- Industry Experience: 6–10 years of experience in R&D tax credits (experience in Fixed Assets or Tax Accounting Methods will also be considered).
- Public Accounting: At least 4 years of experience in Accounting or Tax within a public accounting or consulting firm.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Proven project management experience.
- Strong mastery of Federal R&D rules and familiarity with relevant state rules and court cases.
- Proficiency in tax return mechanics and experience with amending tax returns.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Masters or Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or a related Management Science field.
- Experience serving clients in Technology, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Construction, or Hospitality sectors.
