Job description
- Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its Charleston, SC office. The paralegal will perform a variety of duties and legal tasks to provide clients with the most time-efficient and cost-effective service. Provides research and drafting assistance, document organization, and maintains positive client contact and confidentiality of client matters.
Responsibilities
- Conducts research and locates cases, depositions, opinions, reports, or other information related to the matter.
- Drafts and/or prepares documents related to specialty areas (e.g., tax returns, estate accountings, petitions, affidavits, probate documents, retirement plans, deposition digests, motions, pleadings, incorporation documents, audit letters, memorandums, newsletter articles, etc.).
- Reviews, proofs, revises, and organizes documents in preparation for trials, closings, transfers of assets and distributions, or other matters.
- Schedules and participates in meetings or conferences related to specialty area (e.g., court appearances, depositions, client conferences, closings, etc.).
- Provides analysis and input regarding the development of strategies.
- Prepares filings for specialty areas (e.g., UCCs, estate filings, court documents, etc.).
- Maintains expertise in the assigned specialty area.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Regular and in-person attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this interactive position.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education required.
- At least one year of experience in a paralegal role, experience in Commercial Real Estate a plus; Paralegal certification preferred.
- Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must have intermediate to advanced experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).
