Job description
- Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join its Charlotte, NC office. This position plays a critical role in supporting the firm's accounting operations by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal policies, and providing timely financial information to support business decisions.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Support the firm's accounting operations through accurate general ledger maintenance, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, operating budgets, and annual financial statement audits.
- Maintain fixed asset records, including tracking additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
- Support and gain proficiency in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and trust accounting processes.
- Prepare annual property tax returns and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and provide reporting support to assist with business and operational decisions.
- Collaborate with accounting leadership on special projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture while maintaining regular in-office attendance and delivering exceptional internal customer service.
- Maintains regular, in-person attendance to support the collaborative nature of the role.
- Performs additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Director of Accounting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; 1+ years’ experience in Public Accounting and/or law firm experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- General understanding of IRS regulations and GAAP principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
