Job description

• We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our Decisioning Software team.
• You'll help develop and enhance Experian's proprietary decisioning software, supporting products that enable organisations around the world to make smarter, faster decisions. Working within a collaborative Agile team, you'll contribute to the development of high-quality, scalable solutions while continually improving your technical skills and engineering expertise.
• This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working closely with teammates, and building software that delivers real business value at scale.
• This is a Hybrid, Nottingham based role (40% in the office) reporting to the Engineering Lead

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software primarily using Java.
• Build new features and enhance existing capabilities within Experian's decisioning platforms.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Engineers, Architects and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment and support.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Investigate and resolve production issues when required.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering practices, tooling and processes.

Requirements

• Experience programming with Java
• Understanding of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices.
• Experience working with source control systems such as Git.
• Experience working within Agile development teams.
• Understanding of automated testing and quality engineering practices.
• Experience developing APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies and modern application architectures.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices.
• Experience working with relational databases.
• Experience working with enterprise-scale applications.
