Job description
- We’re looking for a bright, organised and curious Operations Assistant to join our team.
- You’ll start by taking ownership of essential day-to-day operational activities — keeping processes moving, coordinating suppliers and resources, supporting our office and making sure the operational basics happen when they should.
- But we’re not looking for someone who just wants to complete a checklist.
- As you develop, you’ll work closely with our Operations & Systems Manager, gaining exposure to operational data, projects, process improvement and business planning. We want someone who is curious about why things work the way they do and, over time, can help us find better ways of doing them.
- This is a hands-on entry point into Operations with genuine room to develop.
- You’ll work closely with the Operations & Systems Manager and get visibility across different areas of the business, giving you the opportunity to understand how decisions are made and how an organisation scales.
- If you’re early in your career, ambitious, curious and looking for somewhere you can learn quickly and take on increasing responsibility, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Taking ownership of day-to-day administrative and operational processes.
- Supporting the smooth running of our Head Office, including supplies, facilities and general office coordination.
- Coordinating equipment, company assets, deliveries, collections and other resources.
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and compliance administration.
- Coordinating bookings, suppliers and external providers.
- Maintaining accurate records, trackers and process documentation.
- Monitoring deadlines, renewals and outstanding actions and following them through to completion.
- Supporting operational reporting and performance tracking.
- Helping identify recurring problems, bottlenecks and opportunities to improve how we work.
- Supporting the implementation of new processes, systems and operational projects.
- Taking on greater ownership of improvement projects as your experience develops.
- Learn the process. Own the process. Improve the process.
Requirements
- You don’t need years of Operations experience. We’re more interested in your potential, attitude and ability to learn.
- Is highly organised and gets satisfaction from getting things done properly.
- Takes ownership and follows things through without needing constant reminders.
- Is naturally curious and asks questions when something doesn’t make sense.
- Is confident using spreadsheets, systems and technology.
- Is comfortable working with numbers and basic data.
- Learns new processes quickly.
- Has strong attention to detail.
- Can manage different priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Communicates confidently with colleagues, suppliers and external organisations.
- Enjoys solving problems rather than simply highlighting them.
- Wants to learn, develop and take on more responsibility over time.
- Previous experience in administration, Operations, project coordination or a similar environment would be useful, but is not essential.
Skills
Required
- Highly organised
- Naturally curious
- Learns new processes quickly
- Strong attention to detail
- Enjoys solving problems
Benefits
- 35 days’ holiday
- Location: Hybrid (4 days per week in the office - Newcastle Upon Tyne)
- Salary: £28,000 per year (depending on experience and qualifications)
