Job description

• We are seeking an experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join our Steel Detailing Operations Team in Bangalore.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Operations Manager in ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day operations.
• Support the planning and implementation of operational procedures, processes, and policies.
• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities of project teams and staff.
• Assist in reviewing staffing requirements and allocating available resources to different phases of new steel projects.
• Monitor project progress, workflow, manpower utilization, and team productivity.
• Conduct periodic quality checks of drawings and models to ensure required quality standards are maintained.
• Review customer standards and coordinate with project teams to ensure deliverables meet client requirements.
• Assist in identifying operational problems, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support the Operations Manager in preparing KPI reporting, manpower utilization, productivity, quality, and delivery performance.
• Lead, motivate, and support team members to achieve productivity and quality targets.
• Monitor manpower utilization and ensure resources are effectively deployed.
• Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager on production, staffing, quality, delivery, and operational issues.
• Assist in planning & managing steel detailing projects from project kickoff with project schedules, specifications & customer requirements.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Checkers, Modelers & Editors to establish project priorities, responsibilities & delivery schedules.
• Review project schedules & identify potential delays, manpower shortages, technical challenges, or production risks at an early stage.
• Assist in balancing workloads among Project Managers, Checkers, Modelers & Editors to improve overall resource utilization.
• Monitor drawing and model quality, including recurring detailing errors, checking comments, customer comments & fabrication related issues.
• Identify skill gaps within project teams and coordinate technical training, mentoring & development programs for Modelers, Editors, Checkers & other production staff.
• Assist in conducting performance reviews of project teams & provide operational feedback regarding individual & team performance.
• Assist in handling urgent customer requirements & ensure appropriate resources are assigned to meet critical project deadlines.
• Mentoring and development of PMs/APMs and production staff, where applicable.

Requirements

• Undergraduate: B.Tech/B.E. – Civil or Mechanical Engineering
• Diploma: Civil/Mechanical Engineering; Postgraduate: Any Specialization
• 15+ years of experience in the Steel Detailing industry willing to consider candidates who can demonstrate significant experience in a related field
• 10+ years of experience in Project Management
• Advanced knowledge of Tekla Structures
• Must have strong knowledge of AISC and CISC standard
• Considerable proficiency and experience in working on Commercial U.S. Projects.
• Experience in structural and miscellaneous steel construction, fabrication, and the ability to read and interpret drawings
• Proven project management and coordination skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to complete multiple tasks with minimal guidance
• Deadline-driven with attention to detail
• Must have 5+ years’ experience in AISC / CISC Projects
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills
• Must have good experience in Model Checking and Erection Checking
