Job description
- Bighorn Airways, Inc. is seeking an experienced aviation executive to serve as Director of Operations. This role provides strategic leadership, regulatory oversight, and operational control for all Part 135 and Part 91 flight operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance.
- The Director of Operations holds FAA-designated authority and is responsible for operational control, regulatory compliance, safety management, and leadership of flight operations personnel. The role oversees Chief Pilots, flight training, operational planning, and compliance with FAA and international regulatory requirements. This position is also a flying position and you must be able to obtain a first class medical.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership, regulatory oversight, and operational control for all Part 135 and Part 91 flight operations
- Ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance
- Hold FAA-designated authority and be responsible for operational control, regulatory compliance, safety management, and leadership of flight operations personnel
- Oversee Chief Pilots, flight training, operational planning, and compliance with FAA and international regulatory requirements
- This position is also a flying position and you must be able to obtain a first class medical
Requirements
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate
- Minimum of 5,000 total flight hours
- Part 135 or Part 121 operational experience
- Must meet 14 CFR Part 119.71(a) Management Personnel
- Proven leadership in flight operations management
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, OpSpecs, and Safety Management Systems
