Admin Office: Senior Accountant at Capital District YMCA in Albany, NY

Job description

• This position supports the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening community. Under the general direction of the Chief Finance Officer, the Senior Accountant assists in the Association’s general accounting functions, assists in the administration of accounts payable functions, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• General Accounting: Reconcile cash receipts, account analysis and reconciliation, general ledger posting and preparation of internal management reports.
• Budget Preparation: Assist in budget preparation.
• Payroll/Benefits Accounting: Assist with tax accounting reports and reconciliation as needed.
• Accounts Payable: Assist the accounts payable coordinator in the processing of to ensure quality and efficiency of accounts payable function. Provide guidance, development and support of incumbent.
• Electronic transfer of banking related data.
• Follow up on bank correspondence and maintain excellent working relationships with banks.
• Verification of bank deposits.
• Reconcile bank statements.
• Assist in preparation of monthly financial reports.
• Assist with internal audits and internal control procedures.
• All other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

• AAS in Accounting and 1-3 years accounting experience or BA/BS in Accounting.
• Proven computer proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Strong mathematical aptitude; excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral; problem solving, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely and cooperatively with staff and volunteers at all levels of the Association.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and its capacity to build strong kids, families and communities. The ability to articulate and model YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibilities are essential.

• This is a full-time exempt position with full benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Pension, 403B, Tuition Reimbursement and more). The salary range for this position is $‎62,353.20 - $67,500.
