Job description

• We’re looking for a Lead Data Engineer to take ownership of our data platforms and play a key role in shaping how data drives decisions across our global organisation.
• This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll design, build, and optimise scalable data solutions while mentoring a growing team and influencing our wider data strategy.

• About the role...
• You’ll help oversee the design and delivery of modern, scalable data platforms, working at the centre of our Group Data Services & Reporting (DS&R) function - the hub that powers data across all eight business divisions.
• This role blends deep technical expertise with leadership, giving you the opportunity to influence everything from architecture to team growth and data strategy.

Responsibilities

• Designing and delivering complex data pipelines and data models at scale
• Guiding technical direction across data engineering projects
• Collaborating with stakeholders to turn business needs into impactful data solutions
• Driving development of our data platform, including AI/ML-ready architecture
• Establishing best practices across data governance, quality, and security

Requirements

• Essential
• Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Data Engineer in complex environments
• Strong hands-on expertise in modern data engineering tools across cloud platforms
• Deep understanding of ETL/ELT, data architecture, and data quality frameworks
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to shape solutions from ambiguity
• Curiosity and a passion for turning data into meaningful business value
• Experience working with AWS Redshift, dbt and Databricks
• Experience with AI, M/L tooling and data preparation as well as data orchestration and cataloguing
• A mentor who enjoys helping others grow
