Responsibilities

• Independently manage insurance defense and civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare substantive legal analysis.
• Take and defend depositions and appear at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
• Develop litigation strategy and oversee all phases of discovery.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in case resolution strategy.
• Communicate directly with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
• Maintain accurate billing records while meeting annual billable hour expectations.
• Collaborate with partners and litigation team members on complex legal matters.

Requirements

• Applicants must be licensed to practice law in California and have significant civil litigation experience. Insurance defense experience is strongly preferred, and candidates should be comfortable independently managing active litigation matters.
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar license in good standing.
• 5+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Significant insurance defense experience strongly preferred.
• Strong experience with motion practice, discovery, depositions, and case management.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple litigation matters.
• Trial experience or substantial trial preparation experience is a plus.
