This Senior Tax Manager opportunity is designed for an experienced public accounting professional ready to lead sophisticated tax engagements, advise a diverse portfolio of business and individual clients, and help shape strategic decisions.
- You will have the opportunity to solve complex tax challenges, uncover valuable planning opportunities, mentor talented professionals, and expand key client relationships. The role offers a competitive annual salary of $160,000 to $175,000 plus bonus, comprehensive benefits, generous PTO, a flexible summer schedule, CPA and continuing education reimbursement, and a hybrid schedule with two to three days per week in the Dallas office.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex federal, state, and local tax compliance, planning, and consulting engagements for business and individual clients.
- Review sophisticated individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, fiduciary, nonprofit, and other business tax returns.
- Manage multiple engagements from planning through completion, ensuring technical accuracy, exceptional quality, and timely delivery.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by delivering proactive tax strategies aligned with their financial and business objectives.
- Research complex tax matters, interpret evolving regulations, develop practical solutions, and prepare well-supported technical memoranda.
- Identify tax-saving opportunities, credits, deductions, and long-term planning strategies that create measurable value for clients.
- Advise clients on business growth, transactions, entity structuring, operational planning, and other strategic tax matters.
- Build lasting client relationships while identifying opportunities to introduce additional advisory, consulting, and professional services.
- Lead, mentor, train, and evaluate tax professionals through hands-on coaching, technical guidance, and career development support.
- Review workpapers and tax returns to maintain the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and professional compliance.
- Stay ahead of changes in federal, state, and local tax legislation, accounting standards, and regulatory guidance.
- Expand expertise across specialized areas such as public company taxation, financial institutions, international taxation, cross-border compliance, expatriate taxation, and transaction advisory.
- Leverage tax preparation, research, engagement management, and workflow technologies to improve efficiency and client service.
- Protect sensitive financial information while upholding professional ethics, regulatory requirements, and information security standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Enrolled Agent (EA), or an equivalent professional credential required.
- At least seven years of progressive public accounting experience.
- Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance, planning, research, and advisory services.
- Experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns across multiple entity types.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple client engagements while meeting deadlines and maintaining exceptional quality.
- Strong analytical, research, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex tax matters into clear, practical guidance.
- Proven experience mentoring, developing, and leading tax professionals in a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with the ability to quickly learn new tax technologies and software platforms.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed for client engagements and business development activities.
- Experience with tax preparation and engagement management platforms such as CCH ProSystem fx Engagement.
- Familiarity with professional tax research tools such as CCH AnswerConnect, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, or Bloomberg Tax.
- Knowledge of international taxation, cross-border compliance, expatriate taxation, transaction advisory services, and the tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.
- Experience advising clients in industries such as financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, and closely held businesses.
- A track record of expanding client relationships and identifying business development opportunities through strategic tax advisory services.
- A strong commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with changing tax legislation, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices.
