Agile Product Owner Intern at Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance in West Des Moines, IA

Job description

• Farmers Mutual Hail (located in West Des Moines, IA) is currently looking for a qualified undergraduate to join our 2027 Summer Internship Program. This is a paid internship starting Monday, May 17 through Friday, August 6, working up to 40 hours per week for the summer, with the potential to turn into a full-time, permanent position in the future.
• We are looking for currently-enrolled college students who are close to the West Des Moines area, as this is not a remote internship.

Responsibilities

• Assists with creating and refining user stories by incorporating feedback from the business; develops requirements to ensure the team meets business needs.
• Participates in Agile Scrum ceremonies including Daily Stand-Ups, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Planning, Sprint Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement Sessions.
• Assists Product Owners with discovery process on projects.
• Assists with managing and prioritizing of product backlog.
• Assists with managing and prioritizing of defect and system support work.
• Observes how to communicate between Agile/Project Teams and key stakeholders.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Requirements

• Education: Must be a currently-enrolled sophomore, junior or senior at an undergraduate college or university majoring in MIS, Computer Science, Business or related degree. (May 2027 graduates will not be eligible).
• Skills: Good organization, time management, customer service and skills.
