• Overview: The Accounts Payable Specialist at The Arc Ontario supports the Finance Department by maintaining the agency's accounts payable system and performing a wide range of clerical and bookkeeping duties that require accuracy, confidentiality, and strong organizational skills.
• This role reviews requisitions, processes disbursements, posts and prints weekly checks, tracks electronic payments, and maintains complete documentation for all payables.
• The Accounts Payable Specialist also manages vendor invoices, resolves discrepancies, maintains tax data for annual reporting, verifies petty cash, and keeps detailed procedural instructions up to date. The position plays an active role in identifying process improvements and ensuring timely financial reporting that supports agency operations.

Responsibilities

• On a daily basis, reviews incoming requisitions for appropriate approvals and support, creates vouchers and assigns expense account distribution before providing them to the Financial Analyst for approval. Follows accounts payable procedures.
• Opens bills daily and matches incoming invoices to purchase orders and requisitions
• Is responsible for complete maintenance of agency accounts payable system.

Requirements

• Associates' Degree in Accounting or Business Administration and over one year of accounting and office experience or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
• Strengths in organizational skills with attention to detail and multi-tasking
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict weekly, monthly and year end schedules.
• Experience using Accounting Software – GP Dynamics a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Office including Excel (intermediate skills) and Word
