Internship - Decision Science / Data Analytics at H-E-B, Inc. in US-TX-San Antonio

Job description

• Helping Texans is the H-E-B Way. Spend 10 weeks with us exploring the retail industry as an H-E-B Corporate Intern. Program dates will be from May 24th – July 30th . Interns will be required to be In Person out of our San Antonio offices. Housing stipends will be available for qualified candidates.
• The H-E-B Planning & Analysis Team develops and maintains budgets and financial systems while providing current, reliable financial data, analysis, and technical information. To help make essential Corporate planning decisions, interns support their teams by applying data-wrangling skills and business acumen to identify and tackle business problems. Responsibilities

• Support teams by applying data-wrangling skills and business acumen to identify and tackle business problems
• Oversee a project and create a solution for a current business challenge
• Receive ongoing coaching, mentoring and development
• Network with Senior Leaders and Partners across all divisions
• Serve Texans through community outreach opportunities
• Go behind-the-scenes to learn more about our supply chain, logistics and retail operation divisions
• Collaborate and network with interns representing universities from across the nation

Requirements

• Current undergraduate, Master's or PhD students majoring in Data Science, Applied Math, Operations Research, Computer Science or related majors
• Experience with data manipulation, data communication and Microsoft Suite (Excel and PowerPoint)
• Tech Skills: experience with SQL, R, Python, Spark, Scala, Java, C/C++, experience with Unix/Linux Shell Commnads , D3.js, CanvasJs , Pixi.js
• ML/AI Skills: experience with Dimension Reduction, Clustering, Kernel Density, Graph Network, Hierarchical Model, Bayesian Network
• Have a willingness to learn and Inquisitive nature
• Strong verbal / written communication and presentation skills
• Organization and time-management skills
• Professionalism and willingness to collaborate in a team environment
• The ability to manage multiple priorities, shift focus between tasks, and pay attention to details
• Have the drive to get things done
• Must have reliable transportation or be open to using public transportation
• Must be available for the entire 10 weeks
• The availability to commit to full-time work in-person for the duration of the Internship, and work a varying work schedule, if required
