Job description

• **Surgical Short Stay is a 12-bed unit that cares for adult surgical patients. Most of the patients are admitted from PACU and stay less than 24 hours, but we also care for pre-op patients and inpatient surgical admissions when needed. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6.**

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to adult surgical patients in a 12-bed Surgical Short Stay unit
• Care for patients admitted from PACU, pre-op patients, and inpatient surgical admissions
• Float to inpatient surgery floors, inpatient holding areas, or potentially medical floors as needed
• Work every other weekend (12 weekend night shifts per contract)
• Work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster
• May be preassigned to units as needed due to consolidation to the Centralized Office mid contract

Requirements

• ACLS & BLS required
• 2 year of Med Surg experience required
• Short stay experience required
• First time travelers accepted
• Charge experience preferred
• EPIC experience preferred
