- An Assistant Controller primarily supports the Corporate Controller by overseeing various accounting functions, including preparing financial statements, managing the general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, assisting with budgeting, analyzing financial data, and coordinating with external auditors, ultimately playing a key role in maintaining a company's financial accuracy and reporting integrity; their responsibilities often involve tasks like journal entry posting, account reconciliation, and internal control monitoring, all under the direction of the Controller.
Responsibilities
- Accounts Receivable
- Oversee the accounts receivable function from beginning to end across multiple entities including supervision of staff at various locations related to function.
- Accounts Payable
- Oversee the accounts payable function from purchase order approval to bill payment and vendor management.
- Prepare journal entries to ensure the accuracy and timely posting of transactions within the general ledger for a weekly and monthly close.
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
- Collaborate with the Controller in developing and monitoring budgets, providing financial analysis and variance reporting.
- Regularly reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Coordinate with external auditors during financial statement audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, assess performance, and provide insights to management.
- Ensure adherence to relevant accounting regulations and reporting requirements.
- Prepare and distribute regular financial reports to stakeholders, including management summaries and key performance indicators.
- May supervise a team of accounting staff, assigning tasks and reviewing work for accuracy.
- Assist in the preparation and consolidation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to GAAP standards.
- Salary Range is from $80K - $100K based on experience
Requirements
- CPA certification is a plus
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in accounting software and data analysis tools including QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience with financial reporting and analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
