• MUFG is seeking a Vice President, Trade Finance for Financial Institutions to join their Transaction Banking team in Singapore. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to leverage your deep expertise in trade finance and your knowledge of the non-bank financial institution (NBFI) sector within a globally respected organisation. As part of MUFG’s specialist client-facing sales team, you will play a pivotal role in originating, structuring, and executing innovative trade finance solutions for banks and NBFIs across Asia Pacific.

Responsibilities

• As Vice President, you will be responsible for driving origination efforts focused on banks and non-bank financial institutions throughout Asia Pacific. Your day-to-day activities will involve building strong relationships with key clients such as sponsors, insurers, asset managers, broker dealers, public sector FIs, leasing firms, factoring companies, institutional investors, exchanges, development finance institutions and multilateral agencies.
• Contribute actively to the delivery of regional transaction banking revenue targets and sales KPIs by identifying new business opportunities within the NBFI sector.
• Develop a thorough understanding of NBFI business models, funding structures, regulatory environments, and competitive developments to transform insights into actionable sales strategies.
• Establish MUFG as a trusted strategic trade finance partner across diverse NBFI sectors including sponsors, insurers, market intermediaries, specialty finance institutions, and more.
• Originate and execute documentary trade transactions such as working capital solutions and risk participation deals aligned with annual revenue growth objectives.
• Build and maintain a sustainable pipeline of NBFI opportunities by continuously engaging with clients to understand their evolving needs and providing tailored solutions.
• Lead proactive client engagement initiatives to capture new business while delivering an exceptional quality of sales service that supports client objectives.
• Leverage MUFG’s APAC network to originate cross-border opportunities and coordinate country teams for seamless client experiences.
• Work collaboratively with various internal teams including Coverage, Product, Operations, Risk, Legal, and others to ensure smooth transaction implementation from origination through documentation.
• Mentor and guide colleagues on trade product insights and market trends while acting as a subject matter expert on NBFI trade solutions within the APAC franchise.
• Ensure all transactions comply with MUFG policies, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends.

Requirements

• To excel in this position, you will bring substantial experience gained from leading roles within prominent trade finance banks. You possess deep familiarity with the nuances of NBFI business models funding structures regulations competitive landscapes which allows you to identify new opportunities quickly.
• Minimum 8 years’ proven experience in LC issuance or confirmation, guarantees or SBLCs, working capital finance or structured trade at a leading trade finance bank.
• Bachelor’s degree in banking, finance or similar fields
• Demonstratable track record in trade finance sales with direct exposure to non-bank financial institution coverage across Asia Pacific markets.
• Demonstrable success in commercial origination with evidence of converting client relationships into revenue or valuable trade assets.
• Strong credit awareness combined with risk management skills enabling you to structure complex transactions within risk appetite while collaborating efficiently with credit teams.
• Ability to work effectively across cultures throughout APAC markets by coordinating complex internal stakeholders for successful deal execution.
• Excellent communication skills paired with negotiation abilities that foster dependable relationship management both internally and externally.
• Capability to work independently as well as part of a tight-knit team demonstrating commitment to communal goals.
• Collaborative mindset that enables efficient cooperation with internal stakeholders from Coverage through Product Operations Risk Legal and other departments.
• Solution-oriented approach coupled with meticulous attention to detail ensuring high standards throughout transaction processes.
