• Title: Senior Director of Medical Affairs & Provider Services
• Location: Indian Health Clinic - 703 NE Hancock St., Portland, OR 97212 &
• Wellness Center - 12360 E Burnside St, Portland, OR 97233
• Schedule: 0.8–1.0 FTE (32–40 hours per week), based on a standard 40-hour work week.
• Wage Range: $250,000.00 – $282,000.00 annual salary, Exempt

• In consultation with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Senior Director of Medical Affairs & Provider Services oversees the medical care delivery system, including development and implementation of strategies, programs, policies, and procedures for all medical services at NARA NW. The Senior Director of Medical Affairs & Provider Services serves as a key clinical leader supporting high-quality patient care, provider operations, regulatory compliance, and organizational initiatives across NARA NW. This position is approximately 25–30% administrative responsibilities and 70–75% direct clinical care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct medical services to patients while demonstrating awareness and sensitivity to Native American health care needs.
• Assist the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in supervision of medical staff at all NARA locations (health and satellite clinics as well as Outpatient and Residential facilities): Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nursing Supervisor, Pharmacy Director, and acupuncturist.
• Assists in addressing provider concerns while promoting a collaborative and high-performing clinical culture
• Assists with provider recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies
• Assists in maintaining quality of on-site waived laboratory testing with nursing supervisor.
• Assist the CMO in developing and implementing medical policies, protocols, and procedures.
• Function as liaison with outside providers, hospitals, and other health care organizations.
• Participate as a member of the clinic’s management team. Assist with development of departmental goals, budgets and operational plans
• Assure that the NARA NW Indian Health Clinic’s medical services are in full compliance with standards, ethics, and license requirements of the medical profession.
• Provide rotation leadership and supervision to student learners from outside institutions
• Provides and facilitates in-service training as needed.
• Participate in on-call service coverage.
• Assist in facilitating and participating in meetings of the Clinical Services Committee and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Requirements

• Current unrestricted Oregon license as Physician (MD/DO) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Naturopathic Physician (ND), or ability to obtain prior to start
• Current DEA registration and prescribing authority as required
• Minimum of 2 years progressively responsible experience in clinical practice, healthcare leadership, medical operations, or provider supervision within a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, quality standards, and patient safety practices.
• Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
• Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.
• Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community.
• Family Practice / Primary Care experience.
• FQHC / community health center experience.
• Prior experience leading interdisciplinary teams and supporting organizational initiatives.
