Responsibilities

• The Director of Medical Staff Affairs and Credentialing directs the administrative duties related to the daily operations and functions of credentialing and medical staff offices across the
• INTEGRIS system. The Director collaborates with facility Medical Staff Leadership (CMOs & CHEs) at all hospitals to ensure a high-quality credentialing and privileging process is maintained and enhanced across the system.
• The Director focuses on maintaining the orderly operations of the Medical Staff, while upholding the mission and values of INTEGRIS.
• The Director works closely with legal counsel and administration with regard to system wide credentialing processes, interpretation and application of regulatory standards, medical/legal issues, state and federal guidelines, and regulatory agency guidelines as they relate to credentialing, peer review and compliance issues.
• The Director provides expert advice, direction and leadership related to all medical staff affairs, credentialing and related regulatory matters system wide.
• Maintain an acute awareness and accurate interpretation of the INTEGRIS Health credentialing policies and procedures
• Read and be familiar with the INTEGRIS Health Model Medical Staff Governance Documents (e.g., Bylaws, Credentials Policy, Organization Manual, etc.), the Professional Practice Evaluation (PPE), and other model Medical Staff policies and support the facility’s medical staff in their review and adoption
• Facilitates System bi-annual review of Medical Staff Bylaws and related documents
• Support facility adoption of standardized template for Medical Staff Services Department policies
• Facility development, implementation and maintenance of standardized delineation of privileges
• Liaison with corporate and facility administrative teams to expedite requests for practitioners
• Ensure that facility Medical Staff Services operations conform to local, state and federal government regulations
• Develops department budgets, fiscal accountability and achieving financial goals/results
• Maintain responsibility for designated centralized functions of Medical Staff Services
• Assist with standardization and support of local practitioner on-boarding processes
• Act as primary contact for physician liaisons
• Attend (for new implementation) leadership meetings for input, engage in implementations and ensure appropriate next steps are completed. Provide reports on privileging status and the status of applicable project milestones
• Facilitation of information sharing in accordance with the Information Sharing Policy
• Serve as point of contact for escalation when physicians and practitioners are experiencing difficulties with privileging or access processes
• Ensure facilities MSPs are utilizing appropriate and approved delineation of privileges (DOP) for the specified services
• Manage DOP process for new services at facilities to ensure approval by facility Medical Executive Committee (MEC) and Board of Trustees (BOT)
• Maintain operational processes post implementation
• Assists facilities in preparation for accreditation, regulatory, and any internal surveys relative to credentialing, privileging and PPE
• Participate in internal audits and regulatory surveys, as needed
• In collaboration with Chief Clinical Officer, ensure that facility peer review activities and functions in accordance with state specific peer review protections
• Coordinate utilization of the Practitioner Excellence dashboards, RLDatix, Vizient and peer review functions (i.e., tracking and data aggregation) in the required performance of Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE)
• At the direction if the Chief Clinical Officer, perform audits pertaining to the completeness of credentialing records of privileged and non-privileged practitioners
• Analyze and monitor facilities Medical Staff Services performance metrics and facilitate development, leadership review and approval of corrective action/performance improvement plans to address deficiencies
• Monitor compliance with applicable INTEGRIS Health Ethics and Compliance policies
• Develop reports, queries and documents when requested to support System requests
• Identify and address process improvement opportunities that affect local credentaiing, privileging or PPE processes
• Assist facility leadership with review of and follow-up on practitioner requests for application or re-credentialing when an issue has been identified or a facility requests assistance in determining whether a practitioner meets threshold eligibility criteria and assists with the development of a monitoring plan when applicable
• Facilitate the delivery of education, training and onboarding to support MSP performance goals
• Mentor MSPs to achieve education and professional certification by the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS)
• Demonstrate accurate knowledge of relevant laws, policies, regulations and standards affecting credentialing decisions and interpretations, including confidentiality of privileged information gained as a result of job functions

• Proficient in MDStaff Credentialing Software, Microsoft Office applications and relevant databases

• Reasoning skills – ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions presented in oral, written, diagram or schedule form.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years management and/or Leadership experience.
• Minimum 5 years of medical staff and/or credentialing experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, medical terminology, Joint Commission standards and medical/legal requirements related to medical staff, credentialing, peer review and compliance.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English and be comfortable with public speaking.
• Bachelors degree
• CPMSM or CPCS
• Masters degree
