Overview
We perform over 200 allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplants annually, that serves adult patients diagnosed with hematological malignancies. These patients are typically receiving high-dose chemotherapy and biotherapy with or without stem cell transplantation.
Responsibilities
- We perform over 200 allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplants annually, that serves adult patients diagnosed with hematological malignancies. These patients are typically receiving high-dose chemotherapy and biotherapy with or without stem cell transplantation.
- Patients are typically immunocompromised and may experience severe infections, graft versus host disease, and other severe side effects of chemotherapy. Additionally, these patients are facing life-threatening illnesses and often have complex psychosocial needs. The patients on this unit are cared for by a multi-disciplinary team which includes attending physicians, registered nurses, nurse practitioners and physician's assistants, pharmacists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, dieticians, social workers, and case managers.
- The usual nurse to patient ratio is 1:3. There are typically 11 nurses on each 12-hour shift, including the Charge RN.
Requirements
- 1 year RN experience in Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, or Adult inpatient Med/Surg
- BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
- ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
- Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
- Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
- BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
- Medical Surgical (CMSRN), Progressive Care (PCCN), or Oncology Specialty certification (OCN)
- Chemotherapy Certification or competency
